What are our goals?

The main goal of Hapi is to be an easy-to-use policy specification language, that offers users a simple and clear syntax to define the possible interactions between actors, actions and resources. Currently, access policies are programmed in data interchange formats such as JSON, YAML or XML. Such formats are employed in systems of vast importance, such as Amazon's AWS CloudFormation, Microsoft's Azure and Google's Firebase. Yet, it is our understanding that such formats, not having been conceived for this particular domain, could be replaced with more expressive specification languages, and this is precisely where Hapi comes in.
